Sonic Colors Review

Story: The story here  isn’t the best, but for a sonic game, what do you expect? In this game Dr. Eggman builds a interstellar amusement park claiming it’s an apology for his past attempts at world domination, while investigating Sonic and Tails find out that he has captured aliens known as Wisps which have strange powers. They have to free the captured Wisps and find out what Eggman plans to do with their power.
Score: 3/5

Sound/Music: The music is great. It’s some of the best in the series thus far.  Its main theme is the best one I’ve heard since Sonic Adventure II.  The music fits the stages very well and is catchy overall.
Score: 5/5

Sound/effects: The effects in this game are nothing special at all. just the same ones they have been using from the previous games. There aren’t many new effects, but overall, they’re decent.
Score: 4/5

Sound/Voice: Gamers, your prayers have been answered. They’ve fired the old voice actors. Only the voice actor for Dr. Eggman is left. Honestly, he was the only good one of the bunch. The new voice actor for Sonic sounds a lot better than the previous one. He fits the character much better. The voice actor for Tails even sounds like a male. For the most part, the actors play their characters perfectly. They seem very comfortable in the role, and their dialog is funny and well written.
Score: 5/5

Graphics:
The graphics for this game are incredible considering they’re coming from a Nintendo Wii. Each environment is well constructed, and you can see the detail they put in. Although they’re similar to Super Mario Galaxy, they’re enjoyable to look at. The design on Starlight Carnival and Asteroid Coaster is simply amazing. Although the graphics are nice, Sega remembered not to neglect the gameplay.
Score: 5/5

Game Play:
If you’ve played Sonic Unleashed, you’ll notice the gameplay is very similar to the day levels. There are a few tweaks here and there, but most are improvements. The gimmick this year is the inclusion of wisps. These creatures give you special abilities when collected. For example, the green ones let you turn into a laser and bounce off walls, he yellow ones let you drill into the ground. Although they’re necessary for a few stages, purists can avoid them for the majority of the game. One problem I’ve noticed with them is that during the 3D portion of the stages, the wisps are less controllable. For example, you can only use the yellow one in 2D. Apart from these minor details, the gameplay is fantastic. The odd difficulty spike shows up here or there, but aside from that, it’s great.
Gameplay: 5/5
