Story: The fallout franchise has always been known to have great story lines. New Vegas is no different. This takes place at the same time as its predecessor; Fallout 3. Your Character is a courier in the “Mojave wasteland” , who has been shot in the head by a man in a checkered suit. You wake up, fully recovered from the accident, and out for revenge. I will not reveal any more to the story. Score: 4/5
Music: The music is old classics from around the 70’s, and was perfect for the setting of a post-apocalyptic wasteland. It is great, but there comes the problem like Fallout 3. There are very limited choices of in-game radio-stations. However, there are more then there were in Fallout 3. The music does cause some lag, but not very often. Score: 4/5
Effects: This is the one category where has very few problems. The sounds actually sound like they’re real. The explosions make your ears ring, the flames sound like they’re burning the plants to the ground, and the blood makes great gushing sounds, like as if they really cut off someone’s leg. The only “problem” is that some weapons fire sounds don’t work, but nothing worth complaining about. Score: 5/5
Voicing: Bethesda, unlike other companies, listens to their customers. The voicing is something to be reckoned with. Not only have they mastered the “pure sound” of voicing, making even whispering sound real, but they have hired some of the top voice actors, including Mr. Las Vegas. Even the Robots in the game sound like they're real. Over all, pretty good. Score: 5/5
Graphics: Using the Havoc engine, New Vegas doesn't pack any special looks. They do look great, better than most games, but there is still some unfinished land. The unfinished land is being patched but some enemies still get stuck. Still very great and doesn’t take time to load new areas. Score: 4/5
Game play: While the graphics may fall short a bit, the game play is not affected at all. They have added new features such as iron-sights and mods for weapons, and hardcore mode, which now makes everything harder, requiring you to eat, sleep, and stay rested. And don’t worry, hardcore is optional and can be turned off at any time. They have also remade certain elements, characters and references from Fallout 2, like the NCR, the Great Khans, and the Speech from Sergeant Dornan. It also now allows you to make ammo, medical devices, like stimpacks and chems. New Vegas also has twice the weapons of Fallout 3, along with some old favourites from fo3. The perk system returns with new perks, always a good sign. It also now uses a companion wheel, which allows plays to select options for companions without using dialog. Your prayers have been answered by Bethesda. Score: 5/5
Final score: 9/10
